James is back from Paternity Leave, Alex is in Shenzhen, and it's all systems go at Audeara HQ!

This week's update comes from Alex who has been overseeing the final manufacturing and pre-production stages right from the factory floor. Alex has actually been testing the first set of headphones from the pre-production run and is super happy with how they're looking and sounding, but there are still some minor issues which we need to make sure are resolved before heading into mass production.

Make sure to watch the full video for some images of the components on the factory floor (they were also posted in the Slack channel!). The purpose of this pre-production stage is to ensure we have all of the processes and testing procedures down pat before entering full scale production.

Our goal is to have the first 50 pre-production sets completed by the end of this week, and we'll publish a new update as soon as we can with details and results from the batch. These will then be tested before starting mass production.

We know you want to know a specific delivery date, and trust us - we definitely feel the pressure. You can be sure we're doing everything we can to get these headphones to you as quickly as possible, and will let you know of any further updates as they come. Stay tuned!

An Update from James and the A-Team (minus James)
over 6 years ago – Fri, Nov 03, 2017 at 12:49:07 AM

Hi everyone,

This update focuses on some housekeeping points to make sure we have all our ducks in a row when the A-01s come off the production line. We also have some exciting production news!

If you haven't filled out your survey yet we have sent you an email as a reminder. Remember if we don't have your shipping address then we won't be able to send you your headphones! We have also sent out emails to those backers whose payments still haven't come through. Unfortunately, if you don't pay for your headphones we won't be able to send them to you.

Audeara T-shirts are also heading out to those awesome Pledgends who ordered them. Keep an eye out over the next couple of weeks as they arrive!

Now down to the technical stuff. Texturing has come through and Alex (along with our fantastic Industrial Designers) have given it the tick of approval for pre-production! This means that starting next week our manufacturers will be producing 50 units for final testing to ensure that there will be no hiccups in the first mass production run. And if everything goes to plan, a few of these units will then be sent out to backers!

For those of you asking about the Audeara app, it has reached the final stages of development and the only changes we are still making are to enhance the user experience. We don't plan to release the app until the A-01s start shipping as you won't be able to use it without the headphones.

Once again, thank you for your ongoing support! If you have any questions or want to reach out to us you can find us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Or you can contact us directly at [email protected]

A Quick Tooling Update
over 6 years ago – Tue, Oct 24, 2017 at 09:45:07 PM

Hi everyone,

In our last update James mentioned some issues with the texturing of the plastic on our headphones. We had a couple of people ask about what exactly this means and whether it matters, and the truth is that the plastics had some defects and inconsistencies that weren't good enough after spending a large amount of money and time getting the tooling done. In our eyes the headphones need to be perfect, and having something that's not quite there isn't going to cut it - even if it is just a cosmetic issue!

Since getting the tooling redone, we've received some images of samples from the factory (pictured above) - and from first inspection we're glad to say they're looking pretty good.

If these get totally approved, we'll be able to start the pre-production run - and if this runs smoothly, we'll then be able to start full production and shipping. We'll update you again next week with some more details about this and give you a sneak peek of the mobile apps as well!

This week we also started shipping the Audeara Pledgend T-Shirts to everyone who ordered one. If that includes you, make sure to take a snap of you wearing your tee and share it with us on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

Shipping Update!
over 6 years ago – Fri, Oct 13, 2017 at 01:52:10 AM

Hi everyone!

For this week's update Alex and James are reunited in Brisbane. Alex has brought back the latest manufacturing prototypes from China, so in the video we go over the upcoming timeline and model updates (as well as a couple of exciting life events!).

Everything is looking really good with the latest sample, but we have found some final texturing inconsistencies. This is the very last thing we need to sort out before we can conduct our pre-production run!

The pre-production run is used to ensure that as the manufacturing is scaled up, the build quality remains up to standard. Unfortunately, this last task before pre-production means we will be unable to ship this month. Our best estimate is that we will have started shipping by the end of November.

For more details make sure you watch the video, and if you have further questions feel free to reach out to us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Or you can head over to our Audeara Community Slack Channel where Alex is always answering technical questions!

In this update, Alex talks us through some of the testing process and gives an update on what to expect in the following week.

Over the past couple of weeks, Alex has been overseeing the component testing of the A-01 headphones while in Shenzhen. This means we manipulated our cables and armature thousands of times to check they didn't show any wear, and also did some more technical testing with the speaker drivers to ensure your sound experience is always on point.

Both of our metal and plastic tooling parts are now finished, which means we'll have our first fully-assembled prototype product within the next couple of days!

As we say with each update, thank you for your patience throughout the production process - we're doing everything we can to send out your headphones as soon as possible while maintaining the highest quality standard. This is super important to us as we want to ensure we deliver you an amazing pair of headphones that we're proud of and exceed your expectations!

As always, feel free to get in touch with any concerns or questions. A massive shoutout to the pledgends who have been active on the Audeara Community Slack Channel - Alex is always on there answering more technical queries, so make sure to get involved if that's something of interest.
