What You Need to Know!

It’s been almost two weeks since we received word that the shipping process had officially started, and we’re stoked that pledgends all over the world have already received their A-01 headphones. If your order is still in transit, we promise it will arrive very soon! 

If you haven’t received your tracking number from our fulfilment agent Aftership, there are still 362 pending based on the shipping agent and time of processing. We’ve found that Australia Post and Skynet process their shipments differently, so unfortunately the countries they service have had to wait a little longer for their orders to arrive. 

We chose to use Aftership as it gives you full transparency at each point of the delivery journey, but the exact delivery times are dependent on your local courier and how quickly they process your order. Along with many other Australians, we’re actually still waiting on a few orders to arrive at the office. The shipment bound for Australia has left the warehouse and on its way, we’re just waiting for it to be accepted by Australia Post and transferred to the sorting facility before they confirm the tracking details - this will then activate Aftership. We’ve just heard this afternoon that Australia Post has started sending tracking numbers with some people expecting delivery tomorrow, so keep an eye out!

We have to send a massive thank you to everyone who has reached out with feedback! Whether it’s passing on a positive review or alerting us to issues, we truly appreciate your patience and commitment.

There have been a few common problems that people have experienced specifically around connectivity and the hearing test. The whole team has been working to resolve these as quickly as possible and have set up a support desk for any commonly found issues on our support page: audeara.com/support

Luckily most issues are fixed instantly, so make sure to check out the support page as your first point of call if something doesn’t seem to be working as it should. 

In your box, there’s a Quickstart Guide which includes all of the necessary steps to setting up and enjoying the Audeara experience. This super-fancy booklet is designed to be unfolded step by step, however, it seems some people are getting excited and unfolding it all the way – meaning they’re missing some critical points. In the future, we’re definitely going to tweak the design so it’s easier to follow! 

This has seen some people experience issues when trying to connect their headphones to their mobile device through Bluetooth. If that’s you, make sure to first connect your headphones through the usual Bluetooth settings (we recommend you also play some music to check it’s working) before connecting to the Audeara app to personalise your headphones. To be clear:

Step 1: Pair your headphones to your device as per usual. 

Step 2: Personalise your headphones using the Audeara app. 

We’ve also discovered that one size does not fit all – if you feel the headphones are too small for your head, you may be able to manipulate them to make them more comfortable. If this is you, please reach out through the support page and we’ll provide some instruction. We’re putting the final touches on some other support videos that will cover some important ‘How to’ topics – expect to see them on audeara.com/support very soon! 

Additionally, some people have passed on feedback about issues within the hearing test. It's perfectly normal for people to not be able to hear the higher frequencies within the test. Don't worry about this, just keep doing the test as accurately as possible - if you can't hear a distinct beep at a specific frequency, you need to press ‘Can't Hear’. If you press ‘Can't Hear’ until it reaches the max, click ‘Barely Audible’, and we’ll take care of the rest. 

If this happens, it does not mean you can't hear the frequency at all, it just means you can't hear it within the current Audeara testing environment. The personalisation does not cut that specific frequency out entirely. The hearing test indicates your unique relationship with sound across a spectrum and our secret Audeara algorithm uses all of the information to get the most out of your music! 

Some people have also noticed a clicking throughout the test, especially at the higher frequencies. This is something that occurs because the speakers are being activated - we're actively working to resolve this issue and it will be fixed in the next over-the-air update. 

Finally, thank you to everyone who has also sent through suggestions and improvements – we appreciate you sharing your perspective as a user, and rest assured they’ve all been taking on board to be included in future updates. 

And now to end on a positive note – we’re loving hearing everyone’s reactions to their A-01s. We’ve included some of our favourites below! 

"Initial impressions: the difference between full and no profile was jarring at first. Advice to use 50% is good. After about 5 hours use, I have adjusted to the full 32-band profile and now find the unadjusted sound muddy and indistinct. What at first sounded like loss of bass now sounds balanced and allows many more acoustic details to come through". - Joe Federer

"I came home to find my A-01s waiting for me. I'm on an iPhone X. The pairing was super easy. Sound prior to running hearing tests is fabulous, sound after running hearing tests is amazing!! I've been using them all morning and they are very comfortable even while wearing glasses. The Shipping Process Has Officially Started!

Hi guys,

Today we bring you what might be our most exciting update ever. We've just got off the phone from the team at our shipping warehouse, and we're proud to say that they have started processing the first batch of orders for shipping.

Our shipping partner has told us that everyone in the first round of delivery will receive a tracking number within the next few days, but it may take up to a week. You will then be able to use this to keep an eye on your headphones as they travel to your door, but exact shipping time will depend on where you are located in the world (we had people order from over 60 different countries!). 

Thanks to our incredible pre-production testers, we can also assure you that the headphones are working amazingly well. However, you will also have the full support of the A-Team throughout the set up process. 

We appreciate how eager everyone is to get their hands on their Audeara headphones, so please feel free to share any photos, videos or reviews on social media. Don't forget to tag us so we can repost!

The Audeara App is Here!

Hey everyone!

Today we bring you an update all about the Audeara app which just got released on the Apple App Store and is expected to be on the Google Play Store very soon! In this video, Tony and Izzy run you through a couple of the screens and show you what the formatting of your final audiogram will look like. 

We're also really excited to say that the first shipment of A-01 headphones are coming out of the factory and are making their way to our shipping provider in Hong Kong right now! Alex and James have been in China this past week to oversee the final stages of manufacturing and get them out the door.  

 

 

Today we're also sending a massive thanks to all the people who have helping us review the app and firmware over the last few weeks. It's because of your hard work that we've been able to work through these problems quickly and ensure the headphones and software are ready to start shipping.

New Year, New Headphones (Coming Soon!)

Hey everyone!

2018 is going well so far. James and Alex visited Las Vegas last week for #CES2018 where they got to see some of the coolest new tech around and meet with potential distributors. 

At the end of December, we started shipping the pre-production sets to a few backers and tech experts who have been testing the headphones for any final bugs or issues. We’ve been stoked with the incredible feedback so far - it’s hard to tell you how much it means to hear your excitement and support. “We're working through a few teething issues with the A-Team, but overall they are awesome ... and REAL!! Massive props to @audeara-james and team for creating a fine product and for giving a few of us the opportunity to help get it over the line. 

Oh, and they have confirmed that my hearing is crap - makes a massive difference to the audio. I think the worse your hearing is the more you will get out of them (within reason) my kids with their young ears didn't notice as much difference.

All day comfortable as well, mine will live at work where they will get a thorough testing.  I've been using my headphones on and off for 1.5 days now and haven't had to recharge yet so battery life is looking really good. Very consistent and fast connection to my Samsung S8 - they reliably connect within 2 seconds. Stable and flawless audio all day.

The QuickStart guide design is A class. Minimalist yet has everything. 

Comfortable, so far. My ears fits inside of them which is strange because my Sony MDR-V55 feel larger yet my ear doesn't fit. Quality looks and feels great. Material is soft for the head rest part yet the metal feels durable for the armatures."

A massive thank you to everyone who’s already been involved in the pre-production process! We really appreciate your photos and kind words. The A-01s are nearly ready - we know it’s been a long journey, and we truly appreciate everyone who’s stuck with us until now! We’re working to start shipping the rest of the headphones by the end of January, and we are talking to our distributors every day to ensure they get to you as quickly and safely as possible from there. 

In this update, we also wanted to walk you through a few things we’ve been working through over the past two weeks. We recently came across a hardware issue with the microphone not producing clear sound during phone calls, so we’ve had to address that as well. 

The second main focus has been the Audeara app. We're still working through some teething issues with the app and firmware, but it's all coming together. We’ve been testing the software on all sorts of different devices and have already gone through dozens of iterations, but have been encountering a few compatibility issues. For example, certain phones weren’t displaying the audiogram graph properly, while other devices weren’t uploading the Audeara personalised profile due to the different ways iOS and Android devices handle Bluetooth protocols. The best news? We’ve found the solutions to all of these problems so far, and you shouldn’t experience any issues once your A-01s arrive. 

 We’d also like to thank those who have been sending us photos, messages, and everything else. Thank you all for waiting and we can’t wait till we see these headphones on heads all around the globe.

December Shipping Update

Hi everyone,

Today we’re bringing an overdue update on delivery for the first shipment of A-01s to you, our incredible Kickstarter backers and pre-order customers. 

We have done everything we can to delivery your A-01s as soon as possible, and while we are incredibly close with some high-quality units coming off the manufacturing line – the last stage details around performance testing and mass-manufacturing have completely exceeded our expectations and have meant we’ve encountered another delay.  

The headphones are still progressing extremely well, and we’re absolutely stoked with their quality of sound and build – but they will simply not be ready in the timeline we were hoping for. The whole team shares your frustrations in this and we are sincerely sorry, as we were hoping to deliver the headphones before Christmas. They will instead be arriving in January, 2018. 

For anyone who purchased the A-01s as a Christmas present, Izzy will be putting together a gift card with some details about the headphones for you to print out so you can hopefully still share some of the Audeara love over this holiday season. Expect to see it in your inbox within the next few days. We will also do our best to accommodate any special requests – just let us know via email [email protected]
